Second Exposure
During a month-long exposure, we surveyed a total of 284 households in Poblacion Bajo. It comprises of 7 Puroks wherein we each patiently went to. Our patience, endurance, and strength surely tested us and indeed, we survived! The experience that this exposure gave us, walking miles just to reach one house, conquering barking dogs, climbing up and down hills, enduring the heat of the sun, the thirst and empty water bottles, it was exceptional! However, the families we’ve talked, the smiles implanted on their faces, the eagerness to converse with us, the warm and humble hearts that received us, made the experience worthwhile. And yes, indeed Poblacion Bajo is already our home away from home; a family away from family.
As our surveying ended, tallying started. It took us almost a week to finish every question in our 5-paged, back-to-back, questionnaire. Successfully, we identified 6 problems in the community, namely (in order): Water, Hypertension, Waste Segregation, Toilet Facility, Livelihood, and Dog Bites.
But after we conducted a meeting with the Purok leaders and organizational leaders, as well as the general assembly held with the community, the prioritization of problems changed. The following changes were (in order): Water, Hypertension, MCH, Dog Bites, Waste Segregation, and Toilet Facility.
