Communal Garden: Hitting two birds with one stone

One main problem of the barangay is Malnutrition. Originally our goal is to decrease the number of malnourished children 0-71 months old from 12% to 5% however upto to this point, we're just close to meeting this target. Truly, the war on malnutrition is a very difficult and challenging task to begin with especially if there is lack of knowledge and no cooperation from the members of the household.

For this exposure, we were able to secure a total of 4 communal gardens for the barangay with 7 puroks. We conducted a contest wherein specific criteria should be met in order to win the grand prize. Pre-judging would start this February and the succeeding months. Final judging would be held on May. This is to ensure sustainability of the communal garden and not just for the contest per se.

This project is a win-win situation for both ends because not only the produce of the communal garden be of importance for the usage on malnuorished children during feedings, but also it is a requirement for them brought about their 4Ps membership.

Up until this point, we will not stop and we will not lose hope to reaching this target of ours; not for ourselves, but for the children who deserve a better health, a better future.
