Philippine Army Supports Rehabilitation of the Barangay’s Material Recovery Facilities
Recent survey conducted among the seven (7) puroks of Barangay Poblacion Bajo revealed that out of 254 households, 236 which comprise 92.9% of the surveyed households are already practicing waste segregation. Wastes in the barangay are already collected uniformly twice a week; thanks to the Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), which was constructed last year in 2017. Despite the improvement in the general solid waste disposal practices of the community in Poblacion Bajo, plans and projects for the program “Basura Ko, Sagot Ko” continues.
Last October 11, 2018, Team Pobalcion Bajo: Rising, care of the team’s leader (Mara Elize Calualhatian), visited the Armed Forces of the Philippines camp in the Municipality of Polanco to discuss about the team’s plans of rehabilitating the 7 Material Recovery Facilities within Barangay Poblacion Bajo for the reason that wastes being collected in the facilities are not organized due to lack of proper barriers. The AFP through Lt. Col. Rufinu De Leon agreed to send out 21 barrels for the 7 MRFs with biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclable labels which will serve as common waste containers. Thank you and much power, AFP! Ngayon, sa tulong din ng LGU ng barangay, mas maayos na ang koleksyon ng mga basura sa komunidad.
