When Love and Hate Collide
Being in a community that’s far from home is hard especially because I’m a family oriented person. I like and don’t like our house at first because it’s super dark and narrow. I’m really allergic to dust, I bloat, my face bloats when I’m exposed to it. I also hated our roof; it’s so hot during my siesta time and I always sleep in the afternoon, it’s my guilty pleasure. I don’t like snails, and there’s a lot of snail outside our house!! Though I enumerated all the things that I hated, I also love being in the community. I love it because I met my bff <3 (see picture below – we’re so sweet, right?)
Fun fact: I easily get pissed, but this community exposure taught me to lengthen my patience (a little bit), because Singson is so annoying at times. Hahaha. I was just kidding. It also taught me to communicate with other people and be responsible in the things that I do. I love the people, they’re very approachable and though the weather in Bajo is cold, the people in there are super warm! And also they give us free food, I was super happy when they gave us Avocado, my fave!!!! I love the weather during night time, though I easily get cold, I still liked it. I love the fact that I’m away from studying, from the books, from exams, but yeah, I kinda miss it, the studying. And I also love the fact that we’re not just put in our community for nothing, we were there for a purpose. We were there because the people needed help, help to grow, to get new ideas and to be empowered. I loved the idea that we were like a stepping stone for them. I hope and will always hope that it’s not just us that were touched by their lives but also us, touching their lives. As what Mother Teresa said, “ I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples”.
