OPPORTUNITY IN UNITY

One rare opportunity given to us as medical students of Ateneo de Zamboanga University is to experience Community Medicine live and clear. We are entitled to serve and empower one barangay with our whole hearts. Given this, mixed emotions were felt -- the bad ones: safety issues, added stress and workload, the time away from family; and the good ones: being able to spend time with our respective groupmates, travelling and being a part of the community, meeting and being able to help and empower them, and most of all being able to apply the things that we have learned to the community people.

Yes, it is indeed an extra challenge for us. But it is undeniably a rare opportunity as well to be able to experience what is not taught in the 4 corners of our classrooms; and these are the things that we, as doctors, should always appreciate: to be able to see and look for the people who needs us, and at the time we need, to fulfill our duties and responsibilities as good doctor.
